Gmail Data Breach Warning - 14th December Gmail Crisis

Yesterday, millions of Gmail users experienced a server down across the globe. For around an hour, Gmail, YouTube, Google Assistant, and Google Docs were out of service after being hit with a widespread outage (502 Error).

"The root cause was an issue in our automated quota management system which reduced capacity for Google's central identity management system, causing it to return errors globally. As a result, we couldn't verify that user requests were authenticated and served errors to our users." - Google

3rd-party apps that heavily depend on Google's back-end services, e.gPokémon GO got affected by the problem as well.

Many experts warned the users of the data breaches.

Will Geddes (CEO, International Corporate Protection Group) warned Gmail on a radio show named talkRadio. She said, "The sky is the limit in terms of what data they could have stolen. It could be to download servers from Gmail accounts, credentials to log in, and the contents of those emails."

This incident has raised many questions in our minds like whether we should completely rely on Google regarding Data Storage and business operations.
