On The Dark Web the Data of UberEats Were Leaked

User records of UberEats, an American online food ordering service, have been leaked by a threat actor.

On Dark Web, a Cyber security firm came across the data after its dark web and deep monitoring. UberEats is an American online food order and dispatch service that was launched by Uber in 2014.

These data breaches left outcomes very destructive and it takes much time to settle the situation. The research team luckily examines a few files that were leaked by the hackers and they found that the file consists of the details of UberEats delivery drivers, delivery partners and customers.

What Information Was Exposed:

  1. 9TXT files leaked, which contained details of UberEats delivery drivers, delivery partners and customers.
  2. Around 579 UberEats customers' files and login credentials were exposed on the dark web.
  3. Leak of over 100 delivery personal data including, full name, contact details, trip details, bank card details and account creation date.

Multiple security incidents have been reported on food delivery service as cybercriminals are taking advantage of the ongoing pandemic to target businesses and users online. In a recent incident, threat actors launched a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on Germany based food delivery firm takeaway.com.

Attackers demanded two bitcoins (around US$11,000) in ransom to stop the attack. Earlier, door dash, a San Francisco based food delivery service provider faced a massive data breach that affected data of around 4.9 million people, who were using its service platform. The company said that an unauthorized third party accessed its user data on May 4, 2019.

Dark web is the World Wide Web content that exists on darknets, overlay networks that use the Internet but require specific software, configurations, authorization to access. The Dark Web forms a small part of the deep web, the part of the web not indexed by web search engines, although sometimes the term deep web is mistakenly used to refer specifically to dark web.
